Post Graduate Diploma in Public Health Management (PGDPHM)
COURSE OBJECTIVES
This course aims to bridge the gap in the public health managerial capacity amongst health professionals in the country. It is designed to enhance the capacity of the public health managerial workforce and to impart knowledge and skills to address and resolve key health management challenges. A major strength of the programme is providing participants with opportunities to apply the learning directly within the community setting.
DURATION
The programme would be a residential course lasting for eight months followed by two and a half months of project work. The students would then return to the institute for their dissertation writing and an evaluation for one and a half months. The total duration of the course is twelve months.
ELIGIBILITY
Applicants should have a graduate/postgraduate degree in medicine, AYUSH, dental, nursing, pharmacy, health sciences, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, natural/life sciences, management, social sciences, social work, economics, statistics or any equivalent qualification. Candidates with work experience in health/development sector will be given preference.
COURSE FOCUS & TEACHING METHODS
This program is interdisciplinary both in its content and teaching. It utilizes a variety of teaching /learning techniques, including seminars, journal clubs, collaborative learning, group discussions, case studies, lecture discussions, assignments, hands on training on computers, visit to organizations of public health interest, practicum and field projects. Faculty with diverse disciplinary backgrounds, national & international experiences combined with a breadth and depth of public health experience would be teaching this course.

ASSESSMENT AND EVALUATION
Participant’s evaluation comprises of internal evaluation (theoretical knowledge and daily participation/application skills of the candidates) during course work and performance in the term examinations. Each participant, working under close guidance of a faculty advisor, develops, writes and works on a project and is evaluated concurrently on the study protocol, while the study is in progress and determinably on his report.
