Saurav Basu
Assistant Professor

Dr. Saurav Basu is a medical doctor and currently, Assistant Professor at the Indian Institute of Public Health – Delhi. He completed his MBBS and MD (Community Medicine) from the Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi and the Master in Public Health (Field Epidemiology) programme from the National Centre for Disease Control. He is also a diplomate of National Board. He has over 7 years experience in Public Health Research and Practice and was previously Senior Resident in the Department of Community Medicine, Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi.

He is currently the course coordinator for the MSc (Clinical Research) programme and is also involved in teaching of MPH and PGDPHM students at IIPH-D.

Dr. Basu primarily works towards generating evidence for strengthening of public health systems for effective management of non-communicable diseases and maternal and child health services in vulnerable populations. He is currently involved in projects for strengthening urban health systems, vulnerability assessment and primary health facility assessment, setting up of a Demographic, Developmental, and Environmental Surveillance site, and implementation of newer regimens for Tuberculosis Preventive Therapy.

Research Summary and Interests

My research primarily focusses on strengthening primary health systems , support continuum of care especially medical adherence for chronic disease management in resource-limited settings, public health surveillance including serosurveillance, public health and medical ethics, and operational research. I am also interested in research directed towards controlling antimicrobial resistance and the application of integrative medicine in public health.
