The Training Division at PHFI is headed by Dr. Sandeep Bhalla, Director-Training which focuses on implementing various capacity building initiatives that aim to upgrade the knowledge, skills and core competencies of Healthcare Professionals since the year 2010. Various initiatives have been formalized and implemented for healthcare professionals from diverse backgrounds in the areas of chronic conditions, palliative care, healthcare quality, health program management, health technology, occupational health and evaluation & monitoring of health programs.

These training programs have been selected consecutively by MOHFW, GOI as an innovative model of education in their National innovation summit held at Tirupati 2016, Indore 2017. He has around 35 publications and he has been instrumental in forging strategic alliances of PHFI with states, regional and global health networks and Institutions e.g. National Disaster Management authority (NDMA), Indian Red Cross Society, International Committee for Red Cross (ICRC), PHD Chambers, FICCI, International Diabetes Federation (IDF), Association of Health Care Providers (AHPI), Quality Council of India (QCI), Royal College Of Physicians (RCP), American Heart Association (AHA), World Obesity Federation (WOF), National Institute of Occupational Health (NIOH), XLRI and National Health System Resource Centre (NHSRC), Indian Institute of Management (IIM)-Ahmedabad, Healthcare Sector Skill Council etc. These programs have also won excellence awards in skills development from all the leading chambers of commerce in India (FICCI, PHD Chambers, ASSOCHAM & CII) as well as the QCI – D.L. Shah (Platinum) award in the quality sector.
