Project Brief:

Public health and Healthcare services are vital for reducing the mortality and morbidity of the population. Public health activities are focused on health promotion, prevention and treatment of diseases, and increasing longevity. If good health is to be achieved, then the efforts of the state government need to be on Public Health Interventions. Human Resources are the lifeline to implement any healthcare intervention. To improve public health outcomes, clinical, public health, and administrative activities need to be targeted separately.

For healthcare services to be responsive to the people’s need and effective, it needs to address the issues of disease prevention, mortality and morbidity for which public health activities are essential. To provide Universal Health for Bihar, the health care system needs to be sound and address all relevant health issues. The NFHS-5 (2019-20) showed that the state of Bihar made considerable progress on the health front in the period between NFHS-4 and NFHS-5. There is a significant improvement in the Reproductive & Child Health and Fertility indicators. The Infant Mortality, the Under-Five mortality, and the Delivery indicators showed substantial improvements. There is moderate improvement in the anemia among adults and children in the state.
