Brief on the Organization:

The Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) is working towards building a healthier India. It is helping to address the limited institutional and systems capacity in India by strengthening education and training, advancing research and technology and facilitating policy and practice in the area of Public Health.  PHFI is headquartered in New Delhi with national presence through its constituent units of regional Indian Institutes of Public Health (IIPHs) and Centers of Applied Research in core public health themes. The Foundation, established in 2006 as a public private initiative, is governed by an independent board comprising of senior government officials, eminent Indian and International academic and leaders, civil society representatives and corporate leaders. Project Brief:

PHFI is established to rapidly advance public health education, training, research and advocacy. As a step towards strengthening the health system, The Health Department, Government of Bihar and PHFI working together for institutionalized capacity building and research initiatives in Bihar. The overall objectives of the engagement are to;

  • Establish a world-class public health institution in Bihar to address the state’s healthcare challenges.
  • Strengthen human resource capacity in public health, research, and education to enhance healthcare delivery in Bihar.
  • Support public health systems in Bihar by providing technical assistance and training to healthcare professionals.

The proposed portfolio for Institution at Patna will include Education (pre-service & In-service), Training Programs to advance the training mandate for the state, Technical Support for state government and research prioritized towards addressing Bihar’s Public Health challenges.

Through the Bridge Grant by BILL and MELINDA GATES Foundation, PHFI will work closely with the Health Department, Government of Bihar for coordinating various activities planned to achieve the above objectives, developing the training portfolio for supporting public health and related training for the Health Department.

Deliverables:

The position will play a pivotal role in supporting the Health Department, Government of Bihar, in advancing public health initiatives through strategic coordination, documentation, data-driven decision-making, and innovation. Key responsibilities include:

  • Interdepartmental Coordination: Facilitate effective collaboration between the Health Department and other relevant departments, including Medical Education, to ensure alignment and synergy in public health initiatives.
  • Documentation and Communication: Prepare high-quality briefs, concept notes, reports, and presentations to support policy dialogue, program planning, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Data Analytics for Decision Support: Analyze health data to generate actionable insights, support evidence-based decision-making, and monitor program performance and impact.
  • Innovation and Process Improvement: Identify and propose innovative solutions to streamline workflows, enhance program efficiency, and improve service delivery across the health system.
  • Capacity Building Support: Assist in organizing and managing training programs, workshops, and technical sessions aimed at strengthening public health capacity in the state.
  • Technical Assistance: Provide analytical and operational support to the Health Department in implementing public health strategies and interventions.
Education:

Essential:

  • MBA, Post Graduate in Hospital Management/Health Management, Masters in Public Health
Experience:

Essential:

  • Minimum five years’ experience in Healthcare / Hospital setting

Desirable:

  • Experience working in multi-stakeholders setting in National or State Governments and allied Institutions.
