The Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) is working towards building a healthier India. It is helping to address the limited institutional and systems capacity in India by strengthening education and training, advancing research and technology and facilitating policy and practice in the area of Public Health.  PHFI is headquartered in New Delhi with national presence through its constituent units of regional Indian Institutes of Public Health (IIPHs) and Centers of Applied Research in core public health themes. Project Brief:

The Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) in collaboration with Tata Memorial Centre (Mumbai), Dr. B. Borooah Cancer Institute (Guwahati, Assam) and NIMHANS (Bengaluru), IIT BOMBAY, is implementing a study entitled “Implement and Evaluate CARE (Comprehensive AI-powered Conversational Interface to Quit Tobacco) to improve cessation among tobacco users”. The study proposes the development of a smartphone-based app. and assess its effectiveness. The app will offer tobacco cessation guidance and deliver age-specific messages. App-based solutions for tobacco cessation leverage technology to make support and resources easily accessible to users, promoting a more convenient and personalized approach to quitting tobacco. The proposed app will offer information on the health risks of tobacco, benefits of quitting, and strategies for successful cessation.

Deliverables:
  • Lead the qualitative component of the study, including guiding the team in the development of qualitative protocols, and qualitative guides.
  • Based on the findings of the formative work, contribute to the development of an AI-based interface.
  • The Position train the study team members from three study sites to collect qualitative data, supervise the qualitative data collection and undertake qualitative data analysis.
  • The Position will lead the qualitative data analysis, contribute to the manuscript writing for publication and their submission for publication
  • The Position will contribute to the development of scientific study reports, and dissemination of study findings at appropriate platforms/forums.
  • Any other task assigned by VP (Research) pertaining to the above role.
Qualification:

Essential:

  • MBBS/BVSc/BDS+ Post Graduate Degree, including the integrated PG degrees with three years’ experience of MPH/PhD
Experience:

 Essential:

  • Around 03 Years of Experience of MPH/PhD.
  • Demonstrate experience in public health-related project management, including planning, execution and monitoring
  • Research and programme experience in tobacco control, cessation and other public health
  • Proficiency in Qualitative Research methods, including the development of protocols, qualitative tools, conducting studies, managing data collection, and analyzing qualitative data
  • Experience in Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) of health programs, with an ability to design frameworks and track outcomes effectively
  • A strong publication record showcasing research contributions in the areas of tobacco control, cessation, or related fields
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills, including the ability to draft high-quality scientific reports, manuscripts, and presentations
  • Fluency in English, with the ability to convey complex ideas effectively in both written and spoken formats.
