The Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) is working towards building a healthier India. It is helping to address the limited institutional and systems capacity in India by strengthening education and training, advancing research and technology and facilitating policy and practice in the area of Public Health. PHFI is headquartered in New Delhi with national presence through its constituent units of regional Indian Institutes of Public Health (IIPHs) and Centers of Applied Research in core public health themes. The Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) in collaboration with Tata Memorial Centre (Mumbai), Dr. B. Borooah Cancer Institute (Guwahati, Assam) and NIMHANS (Bengaluru), IIT BOMBAY, is implementing a study entitled “Implement and Evaluate CARE (Comprehensive AI-powered Conversational Interface to Quit Tobacco) to improve cessation among tobacco users”. The study proposes the development of a smartphone-based app. and assess its effectiveness. The app will offer tobacco cessation guidance and deliver age-specific messages. App-based solutions for tobacco cessation leverage technology to make support and resources easily accessible to users, promoting a more convenient and personalized approach to quitting tobacco. The proposed app will offer information on the health risks of tobacco, benefits of quitting, and strategies for successful cessation.
Under the guidance of PI, Co-PIs, the Consultant (Project Research Scientist) will:
- Ensure the timely implementation of all study activities across the three study sites ensuring adherence to the proposed timelines and objectives
- Contribute to the quantitative components of the study including study design, sampling strategy, protocol and tools development, and development of training manuals and resources.
- Develop and manage the project’s database systems, ensuring robust data management practices.
- Perform regular data quality checks, statistical analysis and contribute to the manuscript writing along with other team members
- Contribute to the qualitative components of the study including the development of qualitative guides, protocols, training manuals and resources, data collection, data analysis and manuscript writing along with other team members
- Assist in the development of an AI-based interface informed by survey and qualitative findings, ensuring the integration of evidence-based insights
- Drafting Study Reports and other documentation for submission to ICMR and the Ethics Committee throughout the study duration.
- Any other task required under the project
Essential:
- First-class Post Graduate Degree, including the integrated PG degrees, with three years’ experience or PhD.
- Second-class Post Graduate Degree, including the integrated PG degrees, with PhD and three years’ experience.
- Must have handled a minimum of five projects relevant to the requirement as Principal Investigator or Co-PI.
- For Engineering/IT/CS-First Class Graduate degrees of Four Years with Five years’ experience.
Essential:
- Around 05 Years of Experience.
- Demonstrate research and programme experience in public health-related project management, including planning, execution and monitoring
- Proficiency in Qualitative and Quantitative Research methods, including the development of protocols, tools, implementation, managing data collection, and analyzing qualitative and quantitative data
- Experience in Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) of health programs, with an ability to design frameworks and track outcomes effectively
- A strong publication record showcasing research contributions in the areas of tobacco control, cessation, or public health
- Proficiency in using Research Software (NVivo, ATLAS.ti, SPSS, STATA)
- Excellent writing and verbal communication skills, including the ability to draft high-quality scientific reports, manuscripts, and presentations
- Fluency in English, with the ability to convey complex ideas effectively in both written and spoken formats.
