Dilip Kumar Jha is Additional Director in the Training Division leading the capacity building initiatives for Primary Care Physicians (PCPs) and Healthcare professionals (HCPs) in various clinical and public health domains.
He holds an MPhil in Hospital & Health Systems Management from Birla Institute of Technology & Science (BITS), Pilani, a Master of Public Health from Datta Meghe Institute of Higher Education & Research, Wardha, and MSc and BSc degrees in Anthropology from the University of Delhi.
Mr. Jha has over two decades of experience working in public health research, health workforce development, and capacity building programs. His work focuses on strengthening health systems, particularly in the areas of human resources for health (HRH), non-communicable diseases (NCDs), maternal and child health, and digital health innovations. He has contributed to several national and international projects funded by organizations such as World Bank, UNDP, WHO, Wellcome Trust, Gates Foundation and government agencies.
He has played a key role in major studies including the mWellcare cluster randomized controlled trial, an mHealth-based intervention for integrated management of hypertension and diabetes in primary care settings across India. His research has also included studies on HRH management in Indian states, assessment of mental health systems, and chronic disease risk factors in South Asia.
In addition to research, Mr. Jha has led the development of multiple training initiatives for health professionals, including digital IMNCI training packages, multimorbidity training modules for Community Health Officers, and induction training programs for Medical Officers. He has also been involved in international capacity-building initiatives such as the Global Development Centre Fellowship Program for healthcare professionals from South-East Asia and Africa. Currently he is leading a program on doctors’ mentoring in emergency maternal and newborn care for district hospitals of Bihar.
Mr. Jha was awarded the NIH funded Global Public Health Leader fellowship in leadership and implementation sciences at the Rollin’s School of Public Health, Emory University in the year 2016. He is a fellow of the International Society for Cardiovascular Disease Epidemiology and Prevention (ISCEP). He has published in several papers peer-reviewed international journals and contributed to reports and manuals.
