Mohammed Akbar has over 20 years of experience in large-scale epidemiological and health system studies on HIV/AIDS in high-risk and vulnerable populations, road traffic injuries, suicide, TB, mortality estimation, and maternal and newborn health. These studies have covered various states in India reflecting wide variety of health system development.
Akbar has extensive project management and data management experience and has contributed to the development of detailed standard operating procedures for monitoring data quality in real time. He has trained many interviewers in imparting interview skills and in technical aspects of the studies. Akbar has significant interest in the qualitative documentation of a variety of public health issues.
Akbar has peer-reviewed 21 articles in international and national journals and 16 reports.
He obtained his MA (Rural Development) and Certificate in Anti-Human Trafficking from the IGNOU, New Delhi. He is also trained as a lab technician.
