Madhumita Bango is a question-driven public health researcher with a strong academic foundation and extensive experience in quantitative and mixed-methods research. She holds a PhD in Public Health from Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai, and has completed her M.Phil. and Master’s in Population Studies (MPS) from the International Institute for Population Sciences (IIPS), Mumbai. Prior to joining the Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI), she worked as a Research Officer at IIPS and as a Programme Associate at the TISS CSR Hub in Mumbai. Madhumita has significant expertise in handling large-scale datasets and designing robust research frameworks. Her research interests span health inequalities, social determinants of health, social exclusion, maternal and child health, and adolescent health, with a focus on marginalised populations shaped by gender, caste, socioeconomic status, residence, and age. It examines how these intersecting factors influence health outcomes and access to care, while identifying actionable pathways for interventions to reduce inequities.
Her research published in various reputed national and international public health journals and she has also served as a reviewer for multiple academic journals.
