Professional Summary and Publications

My research focuses on understanding anemia and nutritional health among Adivasi women in southern Karnataka, particularly in the Chamarajanagar district. As part of my PhD work within the CHIGURU Adivasi Family Cohort, I study how social, cultural, and dietary factors influence anemia and malnutrition among women of reproductive age in tribal communities.

Using a mixed-methods approach, my research combines quantitative cohort data with qualitative methods such as in-depth interviews, focus group discussions, and participant observation. This approach helps to understand not only the prevalence of anemia but also the pathways through which socioeconomic conditions, cultural food practices, and gender roles shape nutritional outcomes.

My work also examines maternal and child health within Adivasi communities, including breastfeeding practices, child growth and development, and access to healthcare services. Through community-based research and long-term cohort follow-up, the study aims to generate evidence that can inform culturally appropriate public health interventions and policies to improve nutrition and health outcomes among marginalized tribal populations.

The overall goal of my research is to contribute to reducing health inequities and strengthening maternal and child health programs in underserved communities.
