My professional journey in public health began as a Public Health Manager with the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC), where I was responsible for managing Reproductive and Child Health (RCH) programs and addressing diverse public health challenges in the Central and South zones of Ahmedabad. This role provided valuable field-level experience in program implementation, community health management, and coordination with frontline health workers and municipal systems.
I subsequently served as a District Epidemiologist in Gandhinagar, strengthening disease surveillance and outbreak response mechanisms at the district level. Building on this experience, I was appointed as a State Epidemiologist under the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP). In this role, I contribute to statewide monitoring, supervision, and capacity building aimed at strengthening the disease surveillance system. My responsibilities include coordinating with national teams, district administrations, and municipal corporations, as well as supporting the rapid investigation and management of communicable disease outbreaks through the State Rapid Response Team (RRT).
I have also been actively involved in public health research and surveillance initiatives, including CCHF sero-surveillance conducted across affected and unaffected districts of Gujarat in collaboration with the National Institute of Virology (NIV), Pune. This work contributed to strengthening the understanding of zoonotic disease transmission patterns and improving preparedness strategies in the state.
In addition, I have contributed to innovative digital health initiatives, including providing initial inputs for the development of the “Nikshay Setu” mobile application, a field-based digital tool designed to support healthcare workers under the National TB Elimination Programme (NTEP). My involvement in the CGC project further strengthened my experience in program coordination and implementation.
I also played a key role in the successful implementation of the TMEAD device under the TMEAD project in Ahmedabad, facilitating field-level deployment and coordination with municipal health systems. The successful completion of this initiative was formally appreciated by the District Collector of Ahmedabad, reflecting the program’s operational impact.
Through these experiences, I have developedstrong competencies in epidemiological surveillance, outbreak investigation, program implementation, intersectoral coordination, and public health system strengthening. My work continues to be driven by a commitment toimproving disease surveillance systems, enhancing public health preparedness, and supporting evidence-based decision-making in public health programs.
