Public Health Foundation of India participated at the 12th Asia and Oceania Thyroid Association (AOTA) Congress, Busan, South Korea PDF Print
Certificate Course in Management of Thyroid Disorders to be scaled to expand professional capacity of over 5000 primary care physicians

Public Health Foundation of India participated at The 12th Asia and Oceania Thyroid Association Congress in conjunction with the Korea Thyroid Association (KTA) annual meeting 2017 from 16th March 2017 to 19th March 2017, at Busan, Republic of Korea. The congress featured the latest advances in thyroidology as well as an update on the day to day practice of clinical thyroidology by renowned experts from the region.

The training division of Centre for Chronic Conditions and Injuries (CCCI) at PHFI under the leadership of Prof D Prabhakaran, Vice President Research and Policy was represented by Dr Sandeep Bhalla, Programme Director had a dedicated session on 18th March at the AOTA Congress, and released a Thyroid Factsheet release and Certificate Course in Management of Thyroid Disorders (CCMTD) Journey Booklet which was unveiled and released by President elect of 2019 AOTA Congress Prof Duncan J Topliss, Director, Dept. of Endocrinology and Diabetes, Monash University, Australia, along with Dr RV Jayakumar, National Expert CCMTD, Dr Sandeep Bhalla, Programme Director - Trainings, CCCI Division PHFI and the CCMTD Team members.


Thyroid Factsheet release and CCMTD Journey Booklet which was unveiled by President elect of 2019 AOTA Congress, Prof Duncan J Topliss, Director, Dept. of Endocrinology and Diabetes, Monash University, Australia, along with Dr RV Jayakumar, National Expert CCMTD, Dr Sandeep Bhalla, Programme Director - Trainings, CCCI Division PHFI and the CCMTD Team members.

Apart from releasing the Thyroid Factsheet, Public Health foundation of India bagged two travel grants for poster presentations by Mr. Arshit Koundal and Mr. Arvind Singh respectively, and one presentation ‘AOTA endorsed certificate course in management of thyroid disorders: a unique partnership model for capacity building of Primary Care Physicians (PCPs) in India by Dr Sandeep Bhalla. The Special PHFI session at the AOTA Congress also had a press conference on 18th March alongside the Thyroid Factsheet release. The AOTA President Dr. Takashi Akamizu and AOTA Secretary Dr. Won Bae Kim made special visit to the PHFI stall, which was a complimentarily provided at the conference. At the Congress the Presidents of Thyroid Associations of Indonesia and Philippines showed keen interest to adopt the Thyroid course model and suggested to submit respective proposals.
