I am an Epidemiologist focusing on cancer prevention and control in India. I am involved in scientific research, teaching, mentorship and capacity building. My work and interest in cancer spans burden and risk factors assessment, biological mechanisms, screening and early detection, referral pathways, survival and health technology. I received my clinical doctoral degree in Periodontics at the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, India and post-doctoral training in Epidemiology at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, UK. I work with population-based and hospital-based cancer registries, large cancer centers, non-governmental organizations, domestic and international academic institutes towards understanding cancer etiology, prevention, early detection and implementation science. I also work across non- communicable disease projects involving diet, physical activity, cardio-metabolic outcomes, oral health and chronic inflammation.

My work in cancer includes (1) descriptive research such as burden assessment, trend and geographical distribution analysis, (2) etiological research such as lifestyle, environmental and host factors as well as factors for survival, and (3) implementation science such as health promotion activities on cancer literacy, behavior change, screening and early detection, pathways to care and health technology tools. I aim to address evidence gaps for cancer sites that are regionally relevant, in understanding environmental and microbial risk factors; and metabolic and inflammatory pathways of disease mechanisms.
