Dr. Samiksha Singh is an epidemiologist and a fervent public health specialist, currently working with PHFI as Additional Professor. Her academic accolades include PhD in Epidemiology and Population Health from London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, London; MD, Community Medicine from University College of Medical Sciences (UCMS), Delhi; MBBS from Lady Hardinge Medical College, Delhi.

most of her research, technical support and capacity building has been focused on Maternal and Neo-natal health, Early childhood development, Mosquito-borne infections, and HIV. She has worked with several partners such as CIFF, Welcome Trust, UNICEF, USAID, CDC, Jhpiego, LSHTM, Harvard University, Karolinska University, Seva Foundation (USA), Dr Reddy’s Laboratories, and Government entities.
As an epidemiologist, Samiksha is the recipient of several international and national grants and has led evaluations of complex public health programs; health systems and implementation research. Amongst the important ones are: Evaluation of Dakshata program—a nationwide scale-up of WHO Safe Childbirth Checklist use with mentoring for quality improvement in secondary level public health facilities in India; Evaluation of SCSL project—based on IHI’s quality improvement approach and collaborative learning—aimed to reduce newborn mortality in public and private hospitals from two states; and PhD research to study the Referral systems and transport for emergency obstetric care in India. She has 25+ articles in peer-reviewed journals and she also serves as an academic editor for Plos One.
In public health practice, Samiksha has 9+ years of direct engagement with governments, UNICEF, and other partners for framing policy, implementing and monitoring programs, and building collaborations. She has supported states for evidence-based program design improving the quality of maternal and child health care. She leads the ‘Advanced Collaboration for Early Childhood Development and Empowerment’ that brings experts from all over the country to brainstorm on policy formulation, program strategies, capacity building, and research.
Training and capacity building is core to her work. She has designed, developed, and implemented training programs for public health managers, administrators, and health care workers, and degree programs (MPH, MD). She has developed guidelines, advisories, and suites of instruction materials; mentored local and international students.
Committed to improving public health outcomes, Samiksha wishes to devise and support innovative initiatives for improving the quality of health care, enhancing community engagement; and conduct implementation research and evaluations to generate evidence that benefits policymakers, program managers, and populations.
