Dr Niveditha Devasenapathy
Associate Professor

Dr.Niveditha Devasenapathy is a medical doctor, trained in clinical research and applied statistics. She completed her Masters in Clinical Trials from London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM). She has 12 years of experience in clinical and public health research. She is the lead coordinator for the Master’s program in Clinical research and engaged in teaching at the institute for the Masters in Clinical Research, Master of Public Health, and several short term training courses in the area of research methods and Biostatistics. She is also a distance learning tutor for the Clinical Trial Masters programme at LSHTM.

She was one of the recipients of the Wellcome trust funded UK based fellowship under the PHFI-UKC program (2014). Recently (2016) she was awarded the Public Health Research Initiative grant by Department of Science and Technology, for a research project on evaluating long term patient reported and functional outcomes in Indian patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty

Research Summary and Interests

Dr Devasenapathy’s primary research interests are in study design, data management and statistical analysis. She was instrumental in the design and analysis of a randomised controlled trial comparing intravenous versus oral iron for anaemic pregnant women, and an implementation research field trial evaluating a complex intervention for improving maternal and child healthcare utilization practices. She leads several data management projects of clinical trials and observational studies. Currently, she is the principal investigator of a prospective cohort study of patients undergoing knee arthroplasty funded by DST through an intramural Public Health Research Initiative grant. She is part of several ongoing systematic reviews in various research topics. Her specific areas of interest are multilevel modelling, and assessment of health related-patient reported outcomes. She has published widely in several international clinical and public health journals.
