Dr Niveditha Devasenapathy
Associate Professor

Dr.Niveditha Devasenapathy is a medical doctor, trained in clinical research and applied statistics with over 15 years of experience in clinical and public health research. She completed her Masters in Clinical Trials from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) and PhD from Deakin University, Australia (on a Deakin-India Research initiative scholarship). Her PhD was on measuring disability outcomes post knee arthroplasty among Indian patients with degenerative osteoarthritis.
She is the lead coordinator for the Master’s program in Clinical research. In addition to the MSc in Clinical Research, she also teaches in the Master of Public Health program. She conducts several short-term training courses on focussed aspects of research methods and applied statistics. She is also a distance learning tutor for the Clinical Trial Masters programme at LSHTM in the UK. She serves as an expert member on several research committees of national funding bodies.
She is a recipient of several research grants and fellowships including the Wellcome trust fellowship under the PHFI-UKC program (2014) for training in advanced statistical and epidemiological methods at LSHTM, and the Public Health Research Initiative grant (2016) from the Department of Science and Technology.

Research Summary and Interests

Dr Devasenapathy’s primary research interests are in study designs, research methods and statistical analyses. She has been instrumental in designing and analysis of several multi-centre clinical and field trials in the area of maternal health and cardiology. She leads the data management of several national and international clinical trials and observational studies. As a part of the methodology research network at the McMaster University, Canada, she contributes to evidence synthesis in methodology topics and various clinical areas. Her specific areas of interest are multilevel modelling, evaluating complex public health interventions in resource poor settings, and assessment of health related-patient reported outcomes. She has published widely in several international clinical and public health journals.
