Personal Statement
Achieve excellence without being complacent is my career guide. With over 1600 hours of public lectures, eight chapters of new course development and over 300 days of face-to-face training in public health, I have contributed significantly to enrich the academic and practice environment of PHFI-IIPHB, and the discipline of public health in general and the domains of governance, maternal and child health, health systems-policy research and programme evaluation in particular.

Summary of experiences
During last two decades of my professional career in the domain of public health, I have been working on a number of thematic areas: health systems and services research; governance in health; adolescent reproductive health (Pathfinder International); community eye care services (Sightsavers International); reproductive and child health programme (CARE International and CINI), and malaria control programme (Govt of India). Subsequently, from Dec 2007 till July 2010, I was responsible for the capacity building programmes of the Ministry of Health, Govt of Odisha. Since Aug 2010, my focus has been on imparting high quality teaching and training, conducting thematic research and pursuing advocacy. I have developed expertise around health systems and health services research, local governance, MCH/RCH, HMIS and programme evaluation.

Research Summary and Interests

During last ten years, I have gathered experience of more than 1600 hours of teaching, and more than 300 hours of face-to-face training, published/submitted 22 peer-reviewed papers in high impact factor journals, worked as PI in research grants worth about INR 5.8 crores, published 14 reports/book chapters, participated in 35 international/national conferences and workshops, and contributed significantly to institutional development activities at IIPHB. I have undertaken research on a wide range of public health issues, such as, health services research, heat stress assessment, malaria prevention trial, tobacco control, maternal and child health services, quality of community based MCH services, local governance in health, and evaluation of multi-state intervention projects (HUNGaMA Next, Comprehensive Case Management Programme (CCMP) on Malaria, Ma Griha, PPP etc).
