Research Summary and Interests

Research Summary- Currently we are examining Relationship between Enteric Fever incidence and Climate in the city of Ahmedabad between 1990-2014 through secondary data from public and large private hospitals in Ahmedabad. We are exploring any association between the hydro-climatological factors and Enteric Fever cases by analyzing Government Hospital records for Enteric Fever for the last 30 years, water levels of surface and ground reservoirs, and hydro-climatological data for the same period. By mapping the data of the hospital cases, we are investigating correlation between the climate variables and Enteric fever incidence rates in the city.
Specific objectives:
· To explore the relationship between incidence of Enteric Fever and climate factors like temperature, Relative Humidity and rainfall in the city of Ahmedabad.
· Also to establish relationship between incidence of Enteric fever and proximity to water bodies in the city of Ahmedabad.
· To establish Anti-microbial resistance patterns in typhoidal salmonella in the city of Ahmedabad.
· To estimate the number of suspected and laboratory confirmed cases of Enteric Fever (Slide Widal with or without Tube Widal, and culture) in the city of Ahmedabad from 1990 to 2014.
Research Interest- To explore and improve maternal and women health issues in marginalised and vulnerable community.
