Shomik Ray is a management professional engaged in the public health sector for the last 16 years. He has had the opportunity to work on HIV/AIDS and health sector support programs at the district, state and national level. Shomik has been engaged with various development organizations including international NGOs and bilaterals like OXFAM, GTZ and DFID in positions of increasing responsibility. With a basic qualification in Finance, a post graduate degree in Management and a Masters in Public Health from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, with a specialization in Public Health Economics. His approach to public health has been an effort to blend sound management principles with public health sciences to achieve results that are measurable and accountable. His years of work at different levels involving stakeholders ranging from the civil society to the government has given him a sound understanding of issues and ground realities, offering an opportunity to develop practices that are not only based on good science, but also achievable and practical. Having spent more than a decade as a practitioner, he is currently looking forward to make a contribution to the academic world of public health particularly in the domain of public health management sciences.
