Indian Institute of Public Health Gandhinagar (IIPHG)
IIPHG was set up in 2008 by Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) and the Government of Gujarat as a joint initiative. IIPHG is a pioneer institute in public health education, training, research, and advocacy. The institute has been recognised as the first public health university in India, a university formed through enactment of IIPH Act 2015 by the Government of Gujarat. IIPHG calls for application for the 2nd batch of Master of Public Health. Other full-time academic programs offered are Post Graduate Diploma in Public Health Management (PGDPHM) and Associate Fellow of Industrial Health (AFIH).
Master of Public Health (MPH)
Public health is an interdisciplinary field that brings together expertise from a range of disciplines including medicine, social sciences, management, engineering, information technology, etc. The public health sector in India is in critical need of qualified public health specialists and the MPH program aims to bridge this gap. The MPH program offered by IIPHG has been designed to help participants acquire skills to examine and respond to current public health challenges. The program is structured on a multi-disciplinary curriculum, including public health management, epidemiology and biostatistics, demography, social sciences, health promotion, health economics and policy, and other important disciplines.
Duration and Mode of Delivery
MPH is a two-year, full-time program. The program will be delivered using a variety of teaching/learning techniques, including lectures, case discussions, practical exercises, lab work, field visits, seminars, journal clubs, collaborative learning, group discussions, assignments, hands-on training, internship, and dissertation. There is a possibility of optional internships in foreign universities to selected students. The cost of this is not covered in the fees.
The course is scheduled to begin from August 2017.
The course is open to candidates with a bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognised university in India and abroad, with at least 50% marks. Public health being a multidisplinary area, students from academic background e.g; medical, dental, physiotherapy, AYUSH, nursing and paramedical sciences, veterinary sciences, management, natural sciences (including biology), social sciences and social work, engineering, law, commerce or accounting, communication, etc. can apply. Relevant work experience in health and development sector will be an advantage but is not mandatory.
Admission and Selection
Selection of applicants will be based on educational qualification, marks obtained in university exams and any PG entrance exams, work experience, and performance in personal interview and group discussion.
Number of Seats: 60
Indian nationals (including Nepal & Bhutan): Rs.2,20,000 per annum
SAARC country students: $4,500 per annum.
International students: $6,000 per annum.
(Fees does not Include cost of hostel and food, books, stationery, dissertation and convocation etc.)
