Learning Objectives

The Indian Institute of Public Health under the aegis of Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) is offering a series of short training programs and workshops to address the needs of public health professional in different thematic domains. Research Methodology as a domain of expertise is well recognized across the country. In order to cater to the research needs of multiple constituencies working in and around the theme of public health, IIPHB announces a four-days workshop on research methods in public health . The workshop would focus on topics, such as, types of research techniques in public health, methods of conducting research, data collection tools, designing research protocols and data analysis using SPSS. The main objective is to build the capacity of participants and enhance their skills in increasing their research skills at their own work places.

At the end of the workshop, participants should be able to

  • Conceptualize development of research objectives and questions
  • Identify research designs
  • Develop research hypotheses
  • Conduct literature search and recognize referencing skills
  • Practice development of data collection tools
  • Relate application of statistics in research
  • Develop basic data analysis skills
  • Practice demo works on data entry, analysis and interpretation using SPSS

Academicians, young researchers, MD/PhD students, programme officers, staff working with government or NGOs, programme evaluators, M&E experts.

Registration Fee

The course fee for the workshop is INR 3000* that includes teaching material, venue, audiovisual aids, lunch and tea, and computer access.

*For students and participants from NGOs there is special concession of INR 1000/-.
