|Foundation Day 2013|
Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) and the Indian Institutes of Public Health (IIPHs) celebrates Foundation Day on Monday, March 18, 2013.
Each year, the PHFI Foundation Day Lecture focuses on a public health area of great national and global importance, which is delivered by a distinguished leader in the field. The theme for PHFI’s Sixth Foundation Day Lecture 2013 was “Women’s Health: Public Health Perspectives” as there is a grave need to address the broader issues of gender respect and women’s empowerment even from a public health perspective.

Awarded the Outstanding Health Professional Award 2012 by the Sri Lanka Medical Association, Prof Fernando has been at the forefront of remarkable change as former Chairperson of the Co-ordinating Committee for Research in Reproductive Health and Committee on Women’s Health in Sri Lanka.
Smt Brinda Karat, former Member of the Rajya Sabha and Member of the Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India-Marxist, presided over the Foundation Day as Chairperson and Guest of Honour.
