Indian Institutes of Public Health
(Delhi and Shillong)
The Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) is seeking two dynamic and enterprising public health experts as Directors of its upcoming Indian Institutes of Public Health (IIPH) at Delhi and Shillong.
Responsibilities of the Director:
The Director will be the principal academic and executive officer of the Institute. (S)he will be responsible for managing the academic and administrative affairs of the Institute. Apart from providing leadership to educational,training and research related activities, the Director will need to build strong linkages of the IIPH with state health systems and other relevant stakeholder organizations. The Director will be accountable to the governance structures defined by the PHFI.
Qualifications:
The Director will have to be a public health professional who is a citizen of India or a Person of Indian Origin card holder. (S)he will bring leadership, vision, strong strategic planning capabilities and organizational and management skills to the position. The Director will be a team builder, have a supportive and open administrative style and demonstrate the ability to enthuse staff and students. Previous experience of setting up or running an academic institution would be valued. India based experience of public health related work is essential. Applicants should be less than 60 years of age.
Application and Selection Process:
The selection would be made by the PHFI Governing Board on the basis of the recommendations of a Search and Selection Committee. In addition to considering the applications received in response to this advertisement, the Committee may also invite applications from candidates it considers suitable.
Salary and compensation will be comparable to the best in the sector in the country and are negotiable. The Director will be appointed for a period of 3 years, with a possibility of re-appointment.
The Director of these IIPHs would be expected to contribute to setting up the Institute. Qualified candidates are strongly encouraged to apply by July 31, 2008 at the latest.
